GOKYO LAKES TREK – NEPAL

The past 3 weeks since my last blog has been amazing. I said goodbye to the ladies group and the next day headed once again to the airport to greet my next group of 13 well hardened hikers ready to tackle a 16 day trek to Gokyo Lakes. The flights in and out of Lukla the airport which is situated at 2850 mtrs usually has problems with weather and this happened 4 days before out departure from Ktm. there were not any flights in and out of Lukla so trekkers were stranded in both places waiting out the bad weather. Once again good Karma was on our side and we were on the first place to Lukla. The weather throughout our journey was excellent brillant blue sky and not so cold. Most of the group made it to Gokyo except 2 ladies who decided to stay at a lower altitude at Machermo, it was a good decision made as one needs to be in excellent health before attempting treks at high altitude. I also decided that the porters should not stay in Gokyo but bring the bags up and then return to Machermo for the next few nights. I wanted out team of porters to rest and not be subject to higher and colder conditions in Gokoy. Well done to those of the group who made it to Gokyo Ri 5380 mtrs and also to those who got to Gokyo 4800 mtrs you have been a fantastic group to work with, both considerate and supportive to each other in tuff conditions. I have posted some photos of the trip I hope you like them and it inspires others to join my on next trip to Gokyo Lakes Nepal
